FIRST AND LAST TO DIE WW1! (World War One Work)
Just a few feet apart
Lay privet John Parr and Privet George Ellison
Both killed at Mons
John Parr the first British casualty - George Ellison
The last British casualty of World War One
Though many many more were to succumbed
Too wounds - gas related wounds - bullets - shells
More than a few - could not handle - what
What they had seen - experienced - so ended
Ended their lives
Others were too spend their lives in asylums
While others tramped up down this land - length and breadth
Gorge Orwell wrote of them in his book:
'' Down And Out In London And Paris ''
The deaths - the suffering - did not end
With the death of John Parr - his death just the beginning
Nor ended with the death of George Ellison
NO - the deaths - the suffering went on and on - ever on!
Long affter 1918!
