Poets & Artists
We saw a hawk resting
atop a fence post,
and though we see many hawks
we noted this
for it looked so stark,
even helpless, against the cold
and wintry scene,
and I thought
of being helpless and cold,
while you noticed how the feathers
ruffled in the wind.
