from 'These Fair Days'
Confessions
Me and Colt and Kurtle and Kurtle’s kid brother
decide to spend a night out under the stars
before the weather goes all to hell.
We drag some tarps and blankets out
into the middle of nowhere
and pop some brews and and build a fire.
We sit around the fire and Kurtle tells the one
about two cowboys walkin' into a bar
and Kurtle's kid brother talks about tryin' to find a job
and Colt points out Ursa Major and Cassiopeia.
As the fire dies down the talk
kinda shifts gears and drifts off in a new direction.
I reckon the glow of embers on a starry night shakes loose
the kind of thoughts a man normally keeps to himself.
