John Donne enters today's haiku contest

I whet my wit to

cut the witless. Fear not, if

thou be wittéd too.

If thy last pledged vow

was 'I do,'  why is thy first

night's vow 'I do not!'?

I love it! This is absolutely how jolly Donne would write a Haiku, I imagine so. Bravo!

Ref, my comment, a definition, in case you were wondering.

.
a medicine or course of action used to prevent illness- headaches etc

In case you were wondering, not the other more popular use in such romantic couplings.

I do however feel the comment and explanation now takes away from the writing, which is always on the money, where Jim is concerned. So, dear friend feel free please to delete my nonesense.

Maybe I should stick my normal, matt effect comments if " good, nice, or simply " I like this."
Sorry, Lucy

There's wit here, in abundance! Bravo! (I'd note only that "pledged" should be monosyllabic, to preserve the 5-7-5 count.)
