ELLINGTON PARK RAMSGATE
The advantage of ageIs having memory's
Of the past good and bad
Has a child I remember
When us kids would go
Go to Ellington Park
Borrow FREELY sports equipment
Footballs just the balls
We supplyd our jumpers to mark the gollies
Borrowed cricket bats and balls so we could play
Play a game of what called French cricket
The players just two needed
One with the bat protecting the stumps - their legs
Aye football and cricket simple easy games to play
Borrow tennis rackets and balls
Played for fun only - just rally's no one an opponent
Just seeing how we could hit the ball to each other
Till one miss hit or missed the ball
Then restarted the game no winner no loser just a game of fun
Sadly the local council stopped all that freebies
There were a cafe nothing special but we could get a tea and ice cream
A cheese roll we were happy with all of that
The local council shut that down of course
That were fifty five years ago now I remember those days so well
Now some of that may return plans are being made!
