'Me and Colt' are juniors in high school
from "These Fair Days"
Blue Moon
Me and Colt
are stretched out on the hood
leanin’ comfortable against the windshield
sippin’ beer
and admirin’ the stars.
Colt’s half pickin’ on his guitar
and we’re talkin’ on life and the ladies
and circumstances
and rodeoin’ and other subjects
too numerous to mention.
We’re not reachin’ any great conclusions
just enjoyin’ the peacefulness and the contentment
that comes every now and again.
It ain’t my intention to let this night slip by unacknowledged.
