THE GREAT AND THE GOOD - SICK (Completed)

The great and good stand in front enjoying the glory
While those who gained THEM their glory stand
Or sit in wheelchairs remembering those they had to leave behind
Lay in foreign fields under the sod lay under the seas home and foreign seas
In past wars many told they went off to war to defend democracy
While ironically most had no vote no say in events - in their millions they died
Told they would return - that is those who survived - that is
Would return to a land fit for heroes
On coming back found themselves back to poverty with wages cut unemployment
To be brutally blunt back to the same old same old life they had before they went
Only The Great And The Good benefited from any gains from the wars
Now bathe in The So Called Glory - now stand in front of cenotaphs world wide
Men and woman of all religions give prayers and dedicate those prayers to the Glorious Dead
Give thanks to God - same as the men and woman of religion did in wars of the Past
Said God were on their side - mind that were said to those on the other side
For fuck sake!
Glory were - is spoken of
Strange I have stood looking at grave stones of the war dead
Strangely I saw no glory I saw only The Dead of the wars
I felt a deep deep sadness
