THE TWENTY SIXTH OF DECEMBER - BOXING DAY!

Very traditional is the 26th of December day after Christmas day
Is called Boxing day in the U K
Christmas Day - Boxing Day - our Bank Holidays and now of course is New Years day
Now we have ten days off - well for most us in the U K that is
New Years day declared a Bank holiday - a few years ago now
Well unofficially dubbed ' Hangover Day! '
With the Scots enjoying Hogmanay New Years Eve
The government of the day decided to make New Years Day a bank holiday
Well it made sense to do say through out Britain!

On that day football - soccer - games are played - rugby annal!
In resent years another sport takes place on Boxing Day
The game of ' going to the sales!
Sharp elbows required - can be far more violent - defiantly dangerous than the Aforementioned sports!
Now Boxing Day is maybe - maybe - unique to the British Isles!
Maybe they have Boxing Day in the dominion states - maybe they have Boxing Day
Sadly for The U S A - the day is just the 26 of December unfortunately for Americans
Such is history!

Huh, I never knew this about you! Interesting :) I don't know if the US have it or not, but I thought they did. I have a vague memory of TV commercials on US TV stations going on about the big sales of Boxing Day. We have it here in Québec. But can't say I've ever been a shopping kind of gal. "The game of going to the sales" must admit makes me shudder a bit lol Don't mind me. Hope your Boxing Day was a successful, fun one. Thanks for the view of what it's like in the UK.
