despite having friends who are ill

despite having lost family friends

despite the astounding number

of people wanting to get on with it

despite the shattering daily news

despite all evidence to the contrary

despite all of it   i continue

to find reasons to be happy

in my mind there is a world

of green grass and blue sky

and a friend who wants to share

that world with me   it's perfect
