Beside Herself
She lay alone beside herself inside the nightPlaying melancholy tones like the music of time in flight
Outside in the dark where stars and trees sang along in tune
To the rise and fall of her breath and all the dreams that fell too soon
Somewhere another mind remembers when she cried
For anyone else to be, anywhere other than there
Were faded notes written in her eyes seeing through this ruse
That only knew what appeared to wish to want to see
Waiting for the sunrise she felt the weight of light
Lying alone beside herself inside the night
