MY CHUM TONY (Addans)

When I were child in my single number age
One of the kids I grew up - with plaid with
Me mum told me - Tony's dad had been killed
In a war in a place called Korea, Tony
Never knew his dad - my dad survived WW2
The war in the The Atlantic & The Pacific
Volunteered - signed on
For the duration of The Korean war
I still have the telegram ordering dad to report in
Dad survived both WW2 & Korea - Tony's dad did not
So I got to know me dad & me dad knew me
Lest we forget - and we do - still children never get to know their dads
And now their mums - as they are sent off to war

It's sad for your friend Tony :( And for sure, many more children went through the same. The consequences of war are deep. It's all so senseless... yet it seems to be our favorite pastime judging by how there's always a war raging somewhere on the globe.
