THE POET - DYLAN THOMAS (Additans - Impromants)

There were a poet
Who did not know
Now Dylan Thomas had it wrong
How a poet should behave
So he misbehaved
Drank far more than
He should have
Maybe smoked what he should not ov
Took pills that he should not ov
Maybe
Living the myth that Dylan believed he should live
Created - dying - due to that myth dictated

He died alone in New York City:
'' I've had 18 straight whiskies ... I think that's a record! ''
Were his last words!
Dylan Thomas - were just thirty nine

Greatly missed

His works greatly read worldwide
Pity is the poet could ov should - ov
Writ so much more than he did
The poet lost his life - careless
Due to the poets stupiderty
We readers never got to read more
Of the poet - we lost as well
The poet denied us the gifts he had
To enjoy the reading - performing
More ov his works

Michael R. Burch
I like your poem, dyslexia and all.

One wonders what magic Dylan Thomas and other poets who died young would have wrought: Keats, Shelley, Wilfred Owen, Sylvia Plath, Thomas Chatterton, Hart Crane ...
