the morning after

marcy sent us tea for christmas

(we sent her a necklace   beads and silver)

two teas   mint medley and sweet kisses

i'm sipping sweet kisses

i couldn't sleep past five   i rarely do

i like this quiet time

yesterday was quiet   perhaps too quiet

zooming with distant friends and family is good

but a poor substitute for the reality

of hugs and face to face conversation

and more than anything   laughter

still   a good day   any day with pasta puttanesca

is a good day   now   the hullabaloo is over

it's quiet again   except for the refrigerator's hum and rattle

~

ah   what's this

dawn

pink and blue

What a lovely poem! I really liked this. I think because, to quite a large extent, this mirrored our Christmas. Zooming to see the grandkids with too many toys for an hour, and then the silence returns for just the two of us. Lovely. Thank you for sharing. :)

PS: Had a beautiful sunset here too.
