INVERTED THOUGHTS

Thinking of a poetic verse,
Running through my mind.
Wishing I had the time,
to write it down.
Before I lose the rhythm,
To late it's gone again.
Lost from an insipid brain,
I wish I could remember.
My mind's an empty  train,
Traveling through the voids
of space,
Nothing to see thoughts
Erased.
Another verse pops in then out,
Lost again and again and again.
Sometimes I feel as though insane,
Always forgetting what myself.
And others have written,
Think covid could be to blame.
Maybe mind's lost membranes,
No wait, Just heard on the news.
Someone like me suffering,
From covid has a foggy brain.
Oh well at least that's,
One more symptom explained.
Wish I could remember,
Verse escaping once again.
What was I going to write,
Inverted thoughts running
through my brain.
Feel so useless, It's gone
Once again.

Yes! Can so relate to this! I've lost countless lines like that. Either as I was falling asleep or when my brain's in a fog... thoughts come, and pouf, they're gone as quickly as they came and are completely irrecuperable. I keep a little notebook on my night table so that when the thoughts come while I'm in bed, I can jot them down before they're gone. But even that little system doesn't work all of the time.. sigh :) Enjoyed this, thanks.

Me too Alan. I reckon my best lines were lost when I woke in the night and forgot to write them down. And the Muse is real, and not to be ignored.
