REMEMBERING THE PAST 2

It's funny when I wake up remembering,
Things that happened years ago. As if
It happened in a different life. I was on
the beachyhead run, you could smell
the sea breeze, it was a nice job to have.
Low tide, promenade was like the beach
packed. Red arrows would be flying along
Eastbourne seafront next week. I liked
being a bus conductor on a open top bus.
Not so much today though, Pulling into
the bus stop at the pier, I could see someone
laying on the ground. People where stepping
Over him to get on the bus. One woman said,
" Don't worry about him he's drunk!". Stepping
off the platform, I knelt down and asked him
if he was okay. He replied " No I'm blind, I was
walking along when suddenly everything was
spinning, I fell down, When I tried to get back
up I realised I was blind." I told him not to
worry help was at hand, As there was a police
car parked close by, I would ask them to call
for an ambulance. ( There were no mobile
phones in those days,) As the police were
Now looking after him, Getting back on the
bus, I shouted out before we continued. You
should all feel ashamed, I think he has had
a stroke. The bus fell silent.
