The journey can be described like a computer program:

01. You put one foot in front of the other.
02. Discover new space.
03. Test space.
04. If the space is pleasing then GOTO 06.
05 Else, if the space is displeasing GOTO 01.
06. End journey. Enjoy.

There are always new spaces, and between each is a journey as you say. But the number of steps is indeterminate.
