Summer Malaise

Held her once so near in a summery dread
Coffin sky overhead shades of cyanotic gray and blue
Rows of twisted monstrous trees bent and gnarled
Snarled leaf bitten similes like the horror of a smile,

'Run away again with me somewhere inside so far from here' she breathed
A breath of wistful, wishful as we were
Still as a picture of a light long lost, forgotten thoughts
Played about the blurring edges of
This frame on fire~
