Why does the weeping willow weep.

WEEPING WILLOWS

Two tree's fell into love,
They didn't mind Taking it slow.
They were only tree's,
Didn't you know.

They couldn't wait,
Till autumn time.
Their leaves fell slowly,
Together becoming entwined.
In a loving embrace,
As old as time.

At last they got engaged,
As their branches touched.
They loved one another,
Very much.

A lowly willow and an oak,
When tornado came between.
It shattered the little willows dreams,
That is why the weeping willow weeps.

She cries for her love every day,
Since that tornado swept him away.
The weeping willow never sleeps,
She stands alone by herself and weeps.

I agree with Uncle Meridian on this one, Alan.
PLUS, there is an ancient Celtic poem known to some as 'The Battle of The Trees': it is very serious, and whilst your poem is by comparison light-hearted, it reminded me of Battle of the Trees.
Really enjoyed.

I cherish this poem. A saddening fable, and yet the beginning makes me smile.
