for Ann
Planet Earth
Me and Colt ride out
at a hard gallop
lettin’ ’em have the rein
and they find their stride
and know they’ve been let loose
and they take that power and run with it
and it’s beyond all else.
I get a strong sensation of bein’ on the earth
and the horses’ hooves pound it
and the earth’s pushin’ back
and the wind skims the surface and brushes our faces
and I know that we’re all in it together
and at the same time there ain’t nothin’ but me and Colt
and these horses and the earth spinnin’ beneath us.
