Shadows, A Breezy Day
In the shade of the redbud tree, sunlight,
filtered by heart-shaped leaves,
if not heart-felt leaves,
casts dancing shadow-leaves on the page.
Small limbs sway in shadow.
Hummingbirds' flitting-flight,
their comings and going,
their great aerial battles, cast shadows.
Dancing and swaying and flitting
cast shadows upon the pages of Baudelaire.
