THE DAY AHEAD
Sitting here in a solitude of dark,Wondering if I awaken.
Will I have time,
To go for a walk in the park.
To watch the swans swim,
To wash away there sins.
Wondering when summer begins,
Will I still be watching snowdrops,
Peaking through the snow.
Or waiting patiently for the bluebells,
To ring out there mighty sounds.
With flower buds and daffodils abound,
While tulip's spring forth from the ground.
Maybe I'll bus or drive to our town,
To smell the coffee roasting.
It's aroma drifting all around,
I like to observe people scurrying.
Never taking the time to enjoy,
The sights and all the sounds.
Today the day nothing worries me,
Think I might even walk to the open sea.
Instead today it's one below,
The car's iced up.
I still have somewhere to go,
To take out the missus and
Old so and so.
Down to the vets,
To neuter her cats.
Then out of the blue,
My mind begins to wonder.
As it does in my advancing years,
Is the missus going to get me neutered to.
