Glistening Sunrise
In the morning sunshineAmid the glistening sunrise
Yadkin River water reflections
Reflect Mirrored trees as signs
Of the awakening day
I hear the woodpecker pecking
This pest of a bird that creates
Havoc on deck post slamming
Staccato beak thrusts
While I door open
Giving a loud tonal “Get Lost”
Instantly winged destructor has flown
To an ancient willow oak
Refuge a natural aviary
Aviary to Its peers above
Where they dive in sorties
To Yadkin rivers edge
Rewound in waves
Until thirst is blessed
For the gaggle of winged wayfarers
Spring distills last frost
Tulip magnolia blooms
India peach tree buds aloft
Lilly white pear tree flowers perfume
The same yet different
Played at similar pace
Tone adjusts to a new scene
With the burgeoning spring grace
