poem for shih te

 

 

so much time spent learning

still i know nothing

this accumulated knowledge 

is so much dead weight

my back aches   my knees buckle

lin asks   who is shih te

dead weight   i say

So much time learning,
I wish I could say the same.
I was 18 before i knew,
How to spell my name.
( Alan was on my birth certificate),
Not Allan as I used to spell it.

Indeed, I myself don't have final answers
but let me tell you this
I wanted to study philosophy but no more so far
because some may say that I would have replaced my own thinking by great philosophers thinkings and I believe I prefer to act as myself...thinking is so much of an intimate process that I don't want that supposed great abstract minds intervene with mine

I don't know if you get my point here!
