In An Uncertain Light
She went strolling invisible as thought
In an uncertain light
Like a violet shadow in the rain
Passing the lonely night
Finding there was no one there she sought
In a way to find herself again
Lost deep inside a screen or frame exposed
How the world a written picture begun
If somethings are not quite as one supposed
Time may fold into itself as spun
Webs of words she felt were somehow weaving
Light into cloaks of wanting without finding wherewithal
The one that was to be was now leaving
Like reading books she read the lines without a pen at all
Passing the lonely night
Like a violet shadow in the rain
In an uncertain light
In a way to find herself again
Invisible as thought.
