Respite
Let us not allow chaos in Washington
To overshadow this splendid day.
Cloudless and calm, and quite a bit
Warmer than we should expect in
The middle of winter, we can emerge
From our tiresome shelter, bolt from
Unending, unsavory images of our
New leader, The Grand Buffoon,
And frolic as if all the damage he's
Doing, which we haven't means to
Address, isn't real. We can walk
(Okay, slide) down the bluff to
The river to gaze at the ice. It may
Wash away soon. We can go to
The playground and soar on the swings,
And drive somewhere precious for
Lunch when we're hungry. Let's seize
One day from the peddlers of chaos.
They'll surely retain those to come.
