the breaking of a heart

"there is a way to run up a mountain"
he told the princess

"but I only know how to fly"
she replied

"you have to run"
he said firmly

"it is impossible , running is only done in fairy tales"
she said with voice breaking

"then our ways have to part my love"
the young warrior almost whispered
_ he did not look her in the eyes as he gently let go of her small hand
and started walking

She was never mentioned by him ever after
