Not a cheery but for me an inescapable observation of life.

Skinner's rat

Splintered yesterdays
woven tightly
dress the awkward clown
as he performs his daily routine
invisible to the crowd
it's another day that aches
to cross the finish line
before the ugly face of humanity
dissolves his fractured mind
he's paid his dues
he's sure of that
though long forgotten why
but he will continue to entertain
until the day he dies
collecting scraps of appeasement
tossed into his worn out hat
pushing the pedals of his life
conditioned like a Skinner's rat.

Daybreaker
This was really good, everyday boredom just appeals to me. =/

Especially liked the lines:

"he's paid his dues
he's sure of that
though long forgotten why
but he will continue to entertain
until the day he dies"

oh, what rythm! =)
