Writing poetry at school in the sixties.
Miss! Miss!
"I feel a poem coming on."
Said the twelve year old
Tomboy -
"Is it alright if I write one
Miss Titmuss?"
"What a brilliant turn of phrase"
Said the Deputy Headmistress
Beaming -
"Of course you may!"
"You've just invented a new
Grammatical construction,
Child!"
How pleased was I,
That the ruse had
Worked -
And proud
To be praised,
When usually
I was told off
In no uncertain
Terms.
