i am a foster mum and i often think how many children are out there with nowhere to go
A new year is ending and a new one will begin
Lets all look back on the things we have done
For better or worse our memories will live on
Giving us hope of a better time to come
Think of the poor child no food in his hand
His wishes and hopes that we will understand
Sparing a thought to his needs and his health
No one to love him or leave him their wealth
How can i pass this child on his own
No clothes to his back not even a home
Where is your mother i hastened to say
Please sir he said mum passed away
The tears he was shedding put me to shame
Why am i keeping this child in the rain
I scooped up this young child for all to see
And said my dear one your comming with me
His poor little body so cold and so thin
Not even a blanket to wrap himself in
This child he has suffered more than we will ever know
I must give him a chance and share with him my home
The new year has come and the old one is gone
Laughter now fills what i once thought was home
The child that was once so thin and forlorn
Now fills me with pride as he stands so tall
My life as i thought was filled with good things
The wealth that i had and material things
It isnt the wealth or riches you own
Its the love of a child that makes your
house a home

my happy new year poem
Happy New YearA new year is ending and a new one will begin
