The Three S'S Of Poetry
A poem's first S is syntax
The sentence structure rules
To aid a writer's rhyming knacks
Syntax is taught in schools
Semantics is the second S
It imparts the poem's intention
For any poet or poet-ess
Who writes with rhyme dimension
The third S, sound, comes into play
Through our ears, as spoken word
Its rhyming pulsing rhythmic sway
Is how the poem is heard
Writing rhymes successfully
Poetic musing romantics
Employ each vital S-fully
Syntax and sound semantics
