loneliness Personified

loneliness Personified

The last few days have been hell
These lonely days I seem to know all too well
Try to distract my mind
But loneliness is always behind

She laughs as I try to escape from her tenacious grip
"Who do you think you are" she booms
Her words echo and reverberate in my skull
Making me reel in pain "you'll never be emancipated from my grasp; alone"
She tightens her grip as I realize she's right

The only companion I have is her tonight

She loosens her hold and I break away
Giving me a smile that's dark and gray
I guess you broke this poser she screams
You're never alone.................. as it may seem

"The only companion I have is her tonight.." That's so sad but I relate to it fully. I'm here with my mum, who is old, frail and senile. It is very hard .
Your poem is brilliant.

This is clever, and the isolation of line 11 is a very neat touch!
