I
felt
the elder
tree tonight
and its strength
and roots within me
spread as mist rolls
down the Erris hills clip
creeping cliffs and gullies
steep as into hamlets quiet and
bayside coves the sea and air do
mingle and I upon the daisied grass
stand stroking these leaves that come
to pass too rarely 'neath this quickening
moon and as the florets sparkle stare upon
this cool and Maytime air I gather in my ruefilled
thoughts and slowly turn towards the door ajar a'whence I came

... standing still surronded by the soul of life .. the wind, the trees, cliffs ....... everything to which we are all united ... it gives a sense of calm even at times when life takes us travelling on rough seas ... It is in the knowing that we are part of this great whole that we go on ... that is the way I feel anyway .. and this is what your beautiful poem told me ...

thank you for reminding me

"I gather in my ruefilled / thoughts..."--my favorite phrase in your very cool poem, published by no means under false pretext, but rather as true tree-text! :-,?

Kathy Lockhart
soft, beautiful words creating a concrete poem. This is a lovely presentation.

Beatifully done- both the form of the tree and the poetry! There are some lovely lines here Peter:

'as mist rolls
down the Erris hills clip
creeping cliffs and gullies
steep as into hamlets quiet'

These are so poetic...

I love the atmosphere you have created here!

(((hugs)))
Love, Zoya
