we knelt
remember
the strand
below the cliffs
where river and sea meet
courting each other
the bog brown, sea-green billows
and squawking gulls
hand-in-hand
we walked out to sea
where the seals
sunbathed
on the yellow-grey sand
you stopped
I know not why
and in the setting sun-light
we knelt
as ripples teased our knees
and kissed
