Up to you to decide whether it's a fairytale modified to be more realistic or the look on reality through the prism of a fairytale... :)
A girl who trailed her life with dreams about the handsome prince,
I came across the pond of lies and bathed without a fear
It took him half a second till he had me all convinced
The castle was the cradle of intense and rampant magic
I had the anxious flair the newborn fairytale could not be mine
But the prince said, "Please, get rid of all the bitter flavour.
Here, just have another glass now, it's the kingdom's sweetest wine."
He could tell I was a little sad and lonely
I can tell now that he was a tad depressed
He would look into my eyes and gently hold me
I would let his tears subside into my dress
I hope he won't forget how we were getting blinded by the ballroom light
Or how we danced the night away so drunk on the same dream
The things he whispered in my ear were fugitive like any other charm
The happy ending was so tangible and close, it seemed
He kept the slipper that I lost and found me so he'd turn it in
His carriage stopped next to my house located by the sea
He kissed my cheek and said I was the sweetest kid he'd known
And then rode off into the sunset with his future queen...not me
I have to write my book afresh and weave my dreams anew
I'm weighing all my anchors, Cinderella's setting sail
Someday I'll be a princess even if without a king
I'll leave this unviting shore, I need another fairytale
