This poem come story is based an exuberance my mouther had one morning.
* cadge means to ask for something for nothing i e asking for money. or as in the story '' thumbing a lift. or cadgeing a lift. :)
Set off for work ,
When she herd the flutter of wings ,
Then before her eyes
Stood a Robin ,
Upon her handlebars ,
Chirping , '' going my way , lady?''
''Cheers, if you don't mind , I'll
Ride with you''
So down the rode Pat set out ,
Robin riding on Pat's cycle
Chirping as they went ,
About his late night out , He'd met
''A bird , a right cracker , a red breast to die
Fore''
If he were not home , back in the nest ,
And soon ,
He'd cop it from his mum and dad,
not been out this latte before ,
His wings were kind of not fit for flying,
His wings all tuckered out ,
Up the hill they went,
Robin chirping on and on as they went
Stopped as they reached the top of the hill,
Robin walked up and down the handle bars,
Chirping six to the dozen,
Pat crossed the road and rode on ,
Robin unconcerned , enjoying the ride
Chance to chirp with Pat about his night of birdie
Courtship,
Down the rode they travelled , Pat, nodding as she,
Listened too the Robin chirping ,
They reached where, Pat had to turn off to get to work
Robin staid where he were , '' not far now , love'' , Robin chirp
As the reached the gaits of mums work's , Robin chirp his thanks
''Thanks lady'' , ''this will do me'' , '' take care '' , ''may see you later''
''That is if me mum and dad don't clip me wings that is!!''
Then off he flew.
