Free
We used to chase our memories
as fast as our legs could run
share fizzy pop potions
fight dragons
and escape from dark dungeons.
We only knew one currency
the freedom to imagine and play
there was no alternative for us
this was the only way.
And beneath the canopy
of summer's blue sky
wide eyes open
hearts soaring high
we would chase rainbows
through whimsical clouds
cast away on magical thoughts
our creativity knew no bounds.
And into the deep forest
where ferocious beasts lurked
along the river bank
for treasures we'd search.
We'd fight pirates and monsters
every friend stood their ground
nobody would yield
until the lunch bell did sound.
Every day an adventure
bursting full from the seams
star wars lightsabers
evil enemies and rescued queens.
And through the fields of whirling gold
on stallions white, pure and so bold
we'd charge to the edge of the very day
free of malice, free of blame
colour, creed, religion no matter
we were all just friends
we were all just the same
FREE!
