Defiance


I knew to place reliance
On this subject conceived by Don
He picked this one, "defiance"
He dared me to write on

I have no need for defying
Not in my present station
As a child, there's no denying
I thrived on confrontation

As I matured I learned to heed
And fought most things less often
Now all grown up, I've lost that need
So arguments I soften

But when challenging my probity
You'll get more then just a frown
You'll often see me oh-so-gritty
As I'll rarely then back down
