A music inspired poem I wrote a while back that I like

Light From The Center

Torn from the middle
Screaming out side to side
That bright light from the center
Leaves you with no place to hide
And the shadow that you cast
Hides the face of disgrace
That bright light from the center
Now you can taste its embrace

As you sit beneath the tree
Where you set my soul free
You look up but you can't see
Too bright, that light from the center

Everything that counts doesn't matter
Why you live is for you to choose
That pure dark from the outside
Seems a sin for you to refuse
Everything that matters left behind
You simply let go of my hand
That pure dark from the outside
Too impossible to understand

Still you lay in the shade
My life is what you paid
On the edge of the pure dark
Living by that light from the center
