From a memory , inspierd by resent poem of Elli , '' Hoofers'' . The U K , had the ''Varity shows'' .Not so dismler to the American ''vaudeville '' shows.
Were the place too goo on a Friday or
A Saturday night ,
A proper family night out ,
In most city's and towns in the U K,
Then we all got the goggle box ,
Family stayed home,
The demise of Variety had began ,
Soon it's death , oh what a tragedy
Fore us all ,
I was privilege too see Charley Chester,
And his variety show
A famous comedian in his day ,
A real trooper as his kind were called ,
Who got high on aplorse , the aderlastion
Of HIS audeance , the smiling fases ,
I whent with me mum , dad and me two
Sister's , oh what a joy to be there ,
Charly teling endless jokes geting us
All the mood fore the evenings entertainment ,
Charly intredust each ack intern ,
Fierst a young girl age a gues 30 plus ,
What a vise she had , had too stand away
From the mike , sing just the popular songs of
The day , no hevey rock , not yet the vogue of
The young ,
On would come Charley sing a duet with her ,
She took here bow , left the stage to Charley ,
More jokes he told , then he intregoust a magison ,
Who spellbound us with his majik , slight of hand,
Then Charley interdusde a male singer , past
His peeck , but he still could sing , sang a duet
With the lady singer ,
On and on the eavning went, a troop dancers ,
Hoofers true,
A guest comedan , on the up or on his way down,
Who knows who cared , we got all we needed that
Night at the Pave*, the show ended with all ack's
Singing , how we all aplorded them , stood up ,
Whisaling our thanks to one and all ,
Espeshly Charley , bless his memory, what a trooper!
