Futile feelings

In spite of all the sadness and bitterness,
frailty and helplessness,
despair and hopelessness,
cruelty and inhumanity
I have encountered
in my limited experiences of love,
I still live for those moments
of utter and complete joy
and the simple feeling of living.

Having not yet fulfilled my love
or arrived at its climax,
I still have so much to learn.
But I am hopeful of the future
despite all my futile feelings.
