Soft

So soft...
You have become so soft.

Years ago your arduousness
Bled your fingers to strung strings.
Now you are softer
Still.
Where is the lack of anger
That is overcome by knowing smiles?
So soft you are
So soft
Yet right hard
Next to fools.

I find this quite wonderful, with irs soft feel and subtle surprise ending. I do wonder about these lines:

Where is the lack of anger
That is overcome by knowing smiles?

One would think it is anger, rather than the lack of anger, that was overcome by knowing smiles... But possibly I am missing the point, especially since a second meaning of "knowing smiles" has just occurred to me...
