I made up the form, as far as I know...I call it a "mirror"...the rhyme scheme is a palindrome: abcb caac bcba
I hope you're happy, warm, and well
So rarely do I see you now
The times I do, too short to tell.
I cannot help but notice how
You seldom find the words to say
Then wander aimlessly away
Perhaps to watch a sleeping cow
I fear you're lonely as a bell
detached from sleigh and lost in snow.
But have some faith---all will be well;
---dear father, someday love will stay...

Dear Father:
Dear father, how are you today?I hope you're happy, warm, and well
So rarely do I see you now
The times I do, too short to tell.
I cannot help but notice how
You seldom find the words to say
Then wander aimlessly away
Perhaps to watch a sleeping cow
I fear you're lonely as a bell
detached from sleigh and lost in snow.
But have some faith---all will be well;
