I was a United Way Champion here at work. The meeting hit very close to home, as child 2 and 3 both have special needs.
Today, I visited memories
I would rather leave behind
At a meeting of my peers
Whose purpose was to faux cheer
Us into a fund raising frenzy
At that moment,
My heart's soul ache
Opened again
Embellished with tears
As I thought of Special children
Times two
One who has triumphed
Over All challenges
And one who has not
Soul seared drops beaded on my cheek
With joy And Sorrow all at once
Overwhelmed I could not think
Beyond the moment
As I prayed to put the pain back
Under the veil of secrecy
So I did not have to think of it again
