SALAD DAYS
Summers long ago , never seemed to end ,The sun always shone , it never seemed to ,
Rain ,
Sky's always blue , never a cloud could be,
Seen ,
Down on the sands , riding a donkey,
Eating ice cream , a 99 with flake ,
having a picnic , sandwiches ,
Cheese , egg , strawberry jam ,
Sand crunching as we eat ,
Washed down with a bottle of pop ,
Tea from a flask ,
Bucket and spade , flags of all nations ,
Building sandcastles ,
Splashing , swimming ,
The sea never cold that I can recall ,
Becoming as red as lobster ,
Brown as as berry ,
Jumping in to the harbour ,
Off the east pier ,
Going fore a spin in the speed boat fury ,
All day spent having fun ,
Enjoying the summer ,
Salad days.
