The warrior of romance

As the moonlight chases the shadows away
beneath the blanket of the night you lay
an alabaster orchid by Rodin's hand
your silken skin a virgin land
upon the whisper of the mountain stream
you drift into your lovers dream
a spirit trespasses
your soul undressed
the wind kisses a gentle caress
your body aches your spirit trembles
and to your knight a heart is confessed.

...destined to fight eternity
until judgement day is called
your warrior of romance
left the hallowed hall
to raise his sword
to defend his queen
fulfil his duty as sworn
to never yield
to never retreat
to never taste
the ashes of defeat

...so came the demons
across the wastelands
to greet his gleaming sword
dryness in his mouth
an unfamiliar taste
but he knew it was for this day
that he was born
so went ignored his heart
as it began to race
and from the far reaches of time
the cry of the ancients
in his throat did rise
and he met the dark marauding mass
with a storm of fury.

...swords hacked and bones shattered
cries of death distilled the air
muscles strained and limbs cracked
the smell of blood seeped every where
the sodden earth a cradle
only for the dying and the dead
and again - the attack came
skin was flayed
and hearts were torn
on their faces
evil shields of scorn.

...as he fell into the depth
of those dark feverish eyes
the warrior faltered
stumbled onto his broken knees
and in that moment most extreme
the wastelands fell silent
unhurried
deliberate
as if - in a dream.

...but with your love in his heart
he raised his head again
for he was made of more than mortal men
and as the final blows did fall
in the darkness your name he called
he did walk forth from that place
his blood still wild
his eyes still bright
he would never forsake you
not - your romantic knight.

...so from the conflict
his bloodied arm did rise
and thrust his gleaming sword
towards the sky

"No one left standing but me he cried!"

His head did rise
and your eyes did meet.

...but time was not to be your friend
only a few grains of sand till the end
this warrior from the dawn of eternity
stumbled forward onto his bleeding heart
and as its final beat closed his eyes
the angels came to reprieve his spirit
and guided his soul beyond the clouds

For you this warrior had fought to the very last

...and as your tear drop fell to a crimson blue pool
the moon light shimmered and died
a silhouette faded against the abyss of time
and the angels opened your eyes.

...and these words were left on the wisp of the wind.

"this waste land
this hollow place
denied innocence
abandoned
fear not
for a furious angel will defend you
and his jaded heart
will seek your embrace"

...and as you lay
you gazed upon the stars
and it came to you
that everyone a shining heart
a valentine defended
by your true knight
your warrior of romance.

From the warrior of romance to all abandoned hearts
i give you my sword --,--'---{@
