THE FLICKERING FLAME OF LIGHT

The flame burns low,

Will it's flickering light ,

Last ,

Will it's flick , flicker out?

Will it flicker on?

Will there come a merest ,

Puff of wind snuff it out ,

Leaving just the stench ,

of smoke ,

No light to see even that ,

The candle light burns low ,

And flickers.

Zoya Zaidi
A good metaphor of a flame dear Ken!

Flicker of a light is hope
Flicker is that teeny weeny warmth
that tells you to go on because
all is not lost;
It shows, no matter
how dim, but, there is light
to dispel the dark-
and no matter how dark,
the tiny flicker shows the path...

I love candles so I loved this, I enjoyed the repetition of flick, flicker etc it worked really well and somehow it had a touch of spookiness about it.

Just one flick and it's gone,
there will always be a
match for the flame
to remain. :)
