Dinner
Having arranged the place cardsShe serves up the hot dinner and
Sits to eat her imaginary food
With her imaginary guests.
To her right is Mr Muse
She feeds him his ambrosia slowly
To her left is Miss Contrariness
Who nibbles neatly on her tart.
Opposite sits Master of Fates
Wolfing his dates nefarious
Two chairs away is Mrs Desire
Who seems lacking in appetite.
At the head of the table lolls Love
Offering everybody toothpicks.
She pours the wine with cordiality.
She likes to cook for them
They offer wonderful conversations
Then help with all the clearing away
Of the things that have been spilt.
