Lou...My Psychologist Friend
When reading "Golden Age", boyhood friend Lou
Challenged me to write from a more positive point of view
It seems he prefer I write with a half full glass
Instead of writing what seems so "alas"
He's obviously concerned I'm in possession
Of what is known as old age depression
Lou's a psychologist who loves me enough
To try calming me down with his psychology stuff
If I tell him "Golden Age"-written with tongue in cheek
Probably he'd claim that was my Freudian leak
But with his psycho degree, my chances are slim
My tongue-in-cheek stance would fully convince him
What I claimed wasn't a lie
But just for you, Lou, I'll give it a try
It shouldn't be hard to find positive things
Instead of dwelling on things old-age brings
Wisdom gained through many years
Rarely found when wet behind the ears
Things we've learned and are most proud of
Can be shared with grandkids we so love
No longer programmed to hard work
Is a seniors well earned perk
Time to think and time to ponder
All of life with all it's wonder
We found the course and we stayed it
And we're grateful to have made it
Golden Age is great, we must agree
So, psycho Lou, don't challenge me
