Done For Now
So there it isDone for now...
She has paused the deaths.
Using her gift for just one day
She holidays from her life.
No dull skies will descend today-
No taloned wings will fly toward her.
There will be no iron beaks stripping flesh
From bones and the joy she owns will live as
She grasps the pause towards herself.
This day will help heal her hurts...
She is nesting and preening in peace.
Not licking wounds to heal them.
Tomorrow it may rain again she knows...
So there it is
Done for now...
A day of imaginary peace and
Sunshine so sublime-
She pauses with ribbons unravelled-
Her disciplined gift unwrapped
Torn paper on the floor.
Her gift is she is never done for now
Wily old birds know how to live...
Just one day at a time.
