*Never deny who you are*
anyway!!
Suffocating
He is next to his girlfriend on the couchThe television is on
but his mind is elsewhere
He thinks of his crush
Of his undying want-for another guy
Of how the want can never be satisfaction
He thinks of his parents
Of how they mock those "faggots" in the store
Of how he might be what they hate-perhaps even fear
His thinks of his friends
Of how they beat up a kid for being gay
Of how they cussed him into the destruction of his soul
His girlfriend notices his distraction
In a loving voice, she asks:
"What's wrong?"
He thinks of his life
Of how it is now-so suffocating, so suppressed, so constricted and binding
Of how it might be if he just let these feelings out
It is the possible loneliness that scares him...
So he snuggles close
Pressing down his feelings, he whispers:
"Nothing."
And prays for a breathe to save him.
